Laundry Storage
Laundry Storage
Having a well-organized laundry storage area might seem like an easy concept, but it’s not simple for everyone. Some people have their washer and dryer in the basement, which means they have to constantly lug piles of clothing up and down stairs. And others choose to place the washer and dryer near the master bedroom for added convenience. Washer and dryer machines are big and bulky, so finding a good place to install these appliances can be tricky. You don’t want to give up valuable closet space near your bedroom or in your master bathroom, but changing the location of your washer and dryer can also be costly.
Laundry Room Storage
When inspecting your laundry storage needs, you should look at how and when you typically wash clothes. You might be forced to set up a clothing line outdoors or in your basement to hang wet garments, or you might be forced to do your ironing and folding in y our bedroom and store your dirty laundry in your bathroom until they’re ready to be washed. When you’re inspecting your laundry storage needs, you should pay attention to functionality. Having to carry loads of laundry up and down stairs will greatly increase the amount of physical exertion required for doing laundry. And the location of your laundry facilities will determine whether you can do you laundry while also handling other personal or household responsibilities.
Despite where you decide to position your laundry facilities, you should make sure that everything you need is readily available to you and stored in the immediate area. Make sure you keep your detergents and fabric softeners within an arm’s reach of your washer and dryer. The flooring where you place your washer should be waterproof, and you’ll want to place an overflow container under your washer to prevent water from escaping the immediate area.
Laundry Organizer
When you’re evaluating your laundry storage needs, make sure you create plenty of space to separate your clothing. Most people choose to separate their whites and colors when laundering their clothes. You might also need to separate clothing based on which family member each piece of clothing belongs to. When you’re folding your clean clothes, you’ll want plenty of space to create piles, to iron, and to hang different types of clothing. Laundry is a task that no one enjoys doing, but one that we’re all forced to do in order to maintain a wardrobe of clean clothing. But if you can create your own personalized system of doing laundry, your laundry process will be greatly enhanced.
