Gun Cabinets
Building your own gun cabinets can be a rewarding experience, as you can customize your gun cabinets to fit your particular needs. When you are first determining what kind of gun cabinets you should build, you should look at your gun collection and determine how you want them to be displayed. You should always keep your gun cabinets locked, to keep them out of the hands of children. You’ll want to determine how you want your gun collection displayed and what the best way would be for you to build gun cabinets.
When you’re building your gun cabinets, you’ll want to take the main box for your gun cabinets and fasten the panels together with wood glue and finish nails. Make sure all the joints are square and the edges are flush. Lay out the gun cabinets on the lower sections of the side panels. Measure up from the bottom edges of the side panels, and draw a reference line across the inside face of each side panel. Cut the cleats to length and position them just below the reference lines. Secure them with glue and drive finish nails through the cleats and into the side panels of your gun cabinets.

Next, you’ll want to stand the side panels upright on their bottom edges and apply a bead of wood glue to the top of each cleat. Place the bottom panel between the side panels on top of the cleats and clamp it in place on your gun cabinets. Make sure the taped front edges of the side panels and bottom panel are flush on your gun cabinets. Drive finish nails through the bottom panel and into each cleat, then drive nails through the side panels and into the edges of the bottom panel.

Next, you’ll want to lay the assembly on its back edges and use a pair of shelves as spacers to set the correct distance between the center panel and the left side panel. Make sure the taped panel edges are at the front of the carcass of your gun cabinets. Fasten the center panel to the bottom panel with glue and drive finish nails through the bottom panel and into the edge of the center panel.
When you have finished your gun cabinets, you’ll likely be delighted with how well they fit your gun cabinet needs. You’ll then be able to display your guns with pleasure and show them off to your friends. You’ll also have the right gun cabinets to keep your gun collection secure.
