Installing your cabinet hardware can make average cabinetry look terrific. When you’re installing your cabinet hardware, you’ll first have to put your cabinet together and install your cabinet hardware at the right point in the process. When you’re putting together you cabinetry and installing your cabinet hardware, you’ll use glue and screws to drive through counter bored pilot holes in the back panel of your cabinets and to install the shelves and dividers of your cabinetry. You should alternate between shelves and dividers during the installation. Start by fastening the lower rack divider flush with the reference marks.

When you’re installing your cabinetry and your cabinet hardware, you should cut cleats from quarter-round molding to size and use glue and brads to attach the cleats to each side of the divider, flush against the back panel. Apply glue to the top edge of the lower divider, and position the shelf with the holes on top of the divider so the holes are in front.
Attach the shelf to the divider with wood screws, driven through the back into the shelf and through the shelf into the lower divider. Then cut the columns to length and sand the edges smooth. Apply glue to the bottom of each column when you’re installing your cabinetry and cabinet hardware, and slide each through a hole in the shelf. Use a square to make sure they are straight, then drive a wood screw up through the cabinet top into each column. Position the middle rack divider on the shelf and fasten it with glue, screws, and cleats.
